Golden Hour Whispers: Wrapping Up August at the Shore

There is a kind of magic that arrives with late August. The light softens, the days feel just a bit longer in our memories, and golden hour takes on a whole new meaning. As summer begins to wind down, we’ve been lucky enough to spend these precious weeks surrounded by family and friends at the shore in Avalon, New Jersey. Looking back at the past few weeks, my heart is so full of the moments that made this trip so special.

Our days were filled with non-stop adventure, especially out on the water. Watching the kids catch waves and gain so much confidence on their surfboards has been an absolute highlight—they’ve made such awesome gains, turning every wipeout into a laugh and every wave into a celebration. Having the advantage of being right on the bay meant our fun didn't stop at the ocean. From exhilarating bay sports to quiet, patience-testing fishing sessions, the water was truly our playground from morning until dusk.

Even with such action-packed days, family dinners remained the heart of our daily rhythm. It’s always our time to slow down, settle in, and relive the fun-filled memories of the day over a good meal. And, of course, no summer evening in Avalon is complete without a trip out for ice cream at The Buccaneer—the ultimate sweet treat to top off another perfect day. As the sun sets on another incredible summer season, I’m holding onto these golden moments and hoping everyone is enjoying these final, sweet weeks of summer with their own loved ones.
